In Memory: Verimore Bank Announces the Passing of Chairman Emeritus Robert Devoy

Verimore Bank announces with deep sadness the loss of Robert Devoy, Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Devoy passed away on June 18, 2024.

Mr. Devoy was part of the leadership team that saw the institution’s evolution from the Brookfield Federal Savings & Loan Association, chartered in 1934 by his father Francis Xavier Devoy and Uncle Paul Devoy, to the state-chartered Verimore Bank.

In 1966, Mr. Devoy joined the bank board and would serve on it, the holding company board, or both for the next 58 years. “We are all so fortunate to have benefited from his wisdom and leadership. His impact on the bank and our community will live for generations,” says Amy Jobson, rural market president and chief operating officer.

In addition to his leadership, Mr. Devoy’s career included his role serving the local community as a state legislator and as a circuit judge. He was also a very active supporter of the efforts to preserve the Pershing Boyhood home and the Pershing Park Memorial Association.

“Robert was a great supporter and leader. We are forever grateful for his contribution to the growth of the bank,” says Kristie Stuewe, Verimore Bank CEO & president. “He will be greatly missed.”

While the bank mourns their loss, they celebrate the manner in which Judge Devoy left the bank and the Brookfield community as better places thanks to his influence, vision and decency. Mr. Devoy’s full obituary can be found on the Wright Funeral Home website under “Obituaries” at www.wright-funeralhome.com.
