MIBA Lobbying Report

The Missouri General Assembly gaveled into the 2023 legislative session on January 4 amid the usual pomp and circumstance. House and Senate leaders lined out their vision for the session, both the House and Senate leaders calling for a change in the initiative petition process to make it harder for Missouri citizens to amend the constitution or statutory laws.

We are currently tracking several bills that would regulate the sale of agricultural land to a foreign entity, would make tampering with an ATM device a specific crime, and would allow credit unions to expand their service areas.

MIBA Executive Director Matt Ruge and our firm are working with MBA to express our opposition to the credit union legislation filed by Senator Lincoln Hough (R) from Springfield. We have met with Senator Hough to gauge his level of interest in passing this legislation and we continue to meet with members of the Senate Insurance and Banking committee to express our concerns; the meetings have been positive.

Thank you for your continued confidence and for the opportunity to serve your interest with the Missouri state government and the Missouri General Assembly.
